Simulating Observations in CASA

Analysis

simanalyze will calculate and display up to 6 of the following:

  • The array - plotants
  • UV coverage
  • The synthesized dirty beam (psf)
  • (the first three are only for interferometric simulation - not useful for single-dish only simulation)
  • The sky model image at full original resolution and scale
  • The sky model image convolved with the output beam
  • The output clean image
  • The residual of the clean deconvolution
  • The difference between the input model convolved with the beam and the output image
  • The fidelity, which is the output divided by the absolute value of the difference, except that a floor equal to the RMS noise is applied to the difference image to avoid dividing by zero.
